Doctoral Consortium

Submissions due: August 17, 2020
Acceptance notification: August 31, 2020
Doctoral Consortium: September 7 – 8, 2020
Conference: September 7 – 11, 2020

The Doctoral Consortium at ICCC’20 (DC-ICCC20) is an online workshop designed to support PhD students in the field of computational creativity by providing them with opportunities to share their ongoing research, connect with peers and established researchers, and explore research questions. The workshop will be divided into three parts: short presentations by attendees, group sessions led by experienced researchers, and a Q&A panel session.

We invite submissions from PhD students at all stages, from starting out to nearing completion. To take part in the workshop, participants are required to submit a manuscript describing their in-progress research, and may choose to submit either an extended abstract (1 page) and give a lightning talk (2 minutes) or a short paper (4 pages) and deliver a longer presentation (10 minutes). We expect to accept ~3 short papers for longer presentations, and reserve the right to assign authors of short papers to give lightning talks. It is recommended, but not required, that only those whose work has begun producing results should opt for submitting a short paper. If you already have a paper accepted to the main conference but would like to attend the doctoral consortium, we would encourage you to submit an extended abstract and give a lightning talk. All presentations will take the format of pre-recorded videos followed by time for questions.

In the second part of the DC we will break into small groups, each led by an experienced researcher from the field of computational creativity, for small group and one-on-one feedback. The consortium will close with Q&A panel session about the process of computational creativity research.

Please note: Every effort will be made to accommodate attendees from different time zones by running the Doctoral Consortium over two days, September 7 – 8. The precise details of the schedule will be announced closer to the conference.
