The 2012 ICCC event will be held in Dublin city, Ireland, from May 30 to June 1 inclusive.<\/p>\n

Dublin<\/a> (or Baile \u00c1tha Cliath<\/em> in Irish) is a UNESCO City of Literature<\/a> and is the designated\u00a0 European\u00a0 City of Science<\/a> for 2012. Dublin is a city where writers and scientists have a tradition of exchanging ideas and viewpoints in a convivial setting, as when physicist Erwin Schr\u00f6dinger \u00a0held forth on the subject of wave mechanics to the regulars at McDaid\u2019s pub<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The conference will be held at University College Dublin, or UCD<\/a>, the alma mater of the author James Joyce<\/a>, the humorist Flann O’Brien<\/a> (whose anarchic wit found a whole new audience via the TV show Lost<\/em><\/a>), and a host of other noted creators.<\/p>\n

Dublin is a modern city with a rich Viking heritage. It is a city with much to offer \u2013 both old and new \u2013 that will be of interest to the creativity-minded visitor. So come to ICCC\u20192012 and perhaps sink a pint of plain<\/a> (aka the black stuff<\/a>), or go on a literary pub crawl, check out a play at one of Dublin\u2019s famous theatres (Orson Welles developed his craft at the Gate<\/a>), take a stroll in St. Stephen\u2019s Green, stop for a coffee at Bewley\u2019s Oriental Caf\u00e9<\/a> (and stay for a lunchtime one-act play<\/a>), visit the Writer\u2019s Museum<\/a>, go see the world-famous Book of Kells<\/a> at Trinity College, or enjoy any number of other creative activities. Fans of Joyce\u2019s Ulysses<\/em> may want to recreate the famous day in the life<\/a> of Leopold Bloom<\/em>, or just sample Bloom\u2019s favorite lunch \u2013 a gorgonzola sandwich and a glass of burgundy \u2013 at Davy Byrne’s<\/a> pub off Grafton Street<\/a>.<\/p>\n
